Terms of Use

These terms apply when you use Ascendly, operated by Ascendly (Pty) Ltd. By creating an account you agree to them and to our Privacy Notice. If you do not agree, please do not use Ascendly.

1. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be 18 or older to create an account.
  • Give accurate information and keep your password private. You are responsible for activity on your account.
  • Recruiter accounts are reviewed and may be approved, limited or declined at our discretion.

2. Honest evidence

  • Ascenders may only submit evidence of work they genuinely did. Do not upload someone else's work or invent results.
  • Mentors must review evidence honestly and verify only what they have good reason to believe is genuine.
  • A verification records a Mentor's judgement at a point in time. It is not a qualification, guarantee or reference from Ascendly.
  • We may investigate disputes, remove evidence, revoke badges or reverse verifications that appear false.

3. Acceptable use

Do not use Ascendly to:

  • harass, threaten, discriminate against or exploit anyone;
  • share content that is unlawful, sexually explicit, violent or infringes someone else's rights;
  • collect or misuse other members' personal information, including contacting Ascenders outside the permission process;
  • impersonate anyone, spam, or try to break, overload or bypass the security of the service.

You can report content or behaviour inside the app. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of what you upload. You give Ascendly a non-exclusive licence to store, display and process it only to run the service and in line with your visibility and permission choices. You confirm you have the right to upload it, including permission from anyone recorded in it.

5. Recruiters

Recruiters may use Ascendly only to find candidates for genuine opportunities. Contact details are released only with the Ascender's permission and an administrator's review, and may be used only for the opportunity requested.

6. No guarantee of outcomes

Ascendly helps people grow and show their ability, but we do not guarantee mentorship matches, verifications, interviews, jobs or any other outcome.

7. Service availability and changes

Ascendly is in active development. Features may change, and the service may occasionally be unavailable. We will try to give notice of significant changes.

8. Liability

To the extent the law allows, Ascendly is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service or from other members' content or conduct. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act or other laws that cannot be excluded.

9. Closing your account

You may ask us to close your account at any time by emailing anele@ascendly.co.za. See the Privacy Notice for what happens to your information.
